Kewpie Dolls and Peko-Chan

My mom spent a handful of memorable months in Japan last year, which meant I scored big on Japanese toys. My first memories are of collecting Kewpie dolls and Monchichis, so this was a warm pop of nostalgia. The Kewpies are wearing handmade dresses made by my mom.

These Peko-Chan charms probably accompanied some type of candy, as she is the mascot for a candy company based out of Yokohama. That poor little boy charm looks like he’s about to be eaten.
