As a toy and doll collector, Japan is like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Even in drugstores you can find the cutest stuff, and the department stores are usually 9 stories high and bursting with colorful and adorable items.
Toy shopping wasn’t the only thing I did, though, I promise! I did manage to spend quality time with family and do some serious sight-seeing in Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. It was a truly eye opening trip.
In between temples and shrines, I was always on the lookout for fun stuff to bring home. For my brother I bought an album (he’s a music fanatic) at the giant 9-story Tower Records store in Shibuya. My sister is a beauty and fashion buff, so I tried to find cosmetics and jewelry for her. One item I loved was a lemon necklace I bought from Hiroshima. Did you know Hiroshima produces most of Japan’s lemons?
