My best friend recently moved to the Bay Area, working for one of those high tech companies that are within spitting distance of both the Apple and Facebook campuses. I was very excited for him, but also excited for me – a new area to research toy stores!
We started the day on a healthy note…at a Krispy Kreme.
Once the sugar high wore off, we headed to Fremont, which had this wonderful street lined with antique stores. I was mostly hoping to see a store called Toy Trauma, but it turned out many of the stores had vintage toys and dolls!
Here’s me on the street. A lovely day didn’t hurt!
At Toy Trauma, I was overwhelmed by how many vintage toys there were squished into a super tiny shop.
Is that a Kevin Sorbo, AKA Hercules, that I spy in this clearance bin?
Our last stop was Time Tunnel Toys in San Jose. Everything was behind a glass case, so it felt more like a museum than a store. But still fun browsing!
My friend said that lots of techy geeks and gamers live in the area – thanks Silicon Valley – so there are many toy stores like these to be discovered. I look forward to my next trip!
