Ruruko is a mouthful to say, but the doll is just an adorable little pint-sized wonder. While in Japan last fall, having near blackouts walking through the Azone store in Akihabara’s Radio Kaikan building, I happened upon this doll that forced me out of my Pullip tunnel vision. She was advertised as Momoko doll’s little sister, and goodness gracious was she cute. She sold for about $125 retail, which I thought was steep for a tiny doll but what the heck? I was on vacation.
Ruruko and Momoko dolls are manufactured by Petworks, which started out as a software company but then ventured into dolls. These are very articulated dolls that are also very fashionable. Ruruko comes with a stock Pure Neemo body, so she and Yeolume got along right away.
The quality of her stock is incredible, even for just a little ballerina outfit and shoes. I love that she’s a brunette!
Toward the end of the year I was able to score from Petworks their Happy Box Winter Holiday, which, for about $225, you get a Momoko, Ruruko, Usagi, and other stock shipped anywhere in the world. Seemed enough of a deal to me. Here is my package.
And here is a size comparison with other dolls…
My second little Ruruko had paler skin and light eyes, and came in a cute little jumpsuit.
It’s difficult to keep collecting these girls, but the price tag (usually around $200) certainly keeps me in check.
