A Doll Collector in Rome

Yikes it’s been awhile since I posted last, and for that I apologize. I should mention that my last post coincides with landing a new job, which effectively snuffed out any free time I had to wax on about my dollies.

That being said, I did manage to sneak away for a vacation in Rome, where I found out the hard way that Italians don’t offer their collectors many outlets for toys!

Here are a few obligatory touristy shops before I share the good stuff…

Ok, so the highlight of my trip (as if they knew I was coming) was a Barbie Doll exhibit right in the heart of Rome! I must have snapped a hundred pictures. Here are my favorites.

It was sort of downhill after that from a doll perspective, but I did happen upon an enchanting toy store in Piazza Navona, called Al Sogno.

The upside, of course, was that my bank account was pristine when I returned home. The gorgeous sites in Rome didn’t hurt either.

This week I embark on a decidedly more doll-centric journey – To PUDDLE in Chicago!

  1. Congrats on the new job! Yup Rome found out you were on the way and made sure the Barbie Doll exhibit was there for you. When I was younger I had a very nice collection of Barbie dolls. They were a usual Christmas gift so much so I knew the box. Have a great time at Puddle and I can’t wait to see your pics from that dolly adventure.
